Ducommun and the Los Angeles Chargers Launch STEM on the Sidelines™ with University of California, Irvine to Promote STEM in Local High Schools

Local High School Students Will Compete in STEM on the Sidelines™ Contest for a Chance to Attend Chargers-Broncos Game on November 18

SANTA ANA, Calif., Oct. 26, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ducommun Incorporated (NYSE:DCO), a manufacturer of electronic, structural and engineered products for the aerospace & defense industry, and the Los Angeles Chargers partnered with the University of California, Irvine (UCI) to develop and launch STEM on the Sidelines™ to help promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in local Los Angeles and Orange County high schools.

STEM on the Sidelines™ is a fun contest for teams of six to eight students to use STEM skills to build and then program a mini football launcher for length and accuracy. The competition for all teams will take place at the Chargers training facility, the Hoag Performance Center, in Costa Mesa, Calif., on November 11. A total of 30 teams, comprised of more than 200 students from 22 different high schools, will participate in the inaugural year. The winning team will be honored on the field at the Chargers home game against the Denver Broncos on November 18 at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.
